Altek's 14-Megapixel Leo Android Phone

Altek, Taiwanese manufacturer of digital point-and-shoots, has announced that its 14-megapixel "Leo" Android 2.1 handset will hit Europe in the first quarter of next year. The Eclair-powered cameraphone, with its nearly-unprecedented 3x optical zoom, was previously reported to ship in Asia sometime in the fourth quarter, although it's not clear if those plans have been supplemented or superseded by this latest announcement. Leo was originally revealed back in May, and its purported optics have kept heavy interest on it ever since -- although in the interim, its 720p video capture has become much more ubiquitous. What remains to be seen is the actual quality of the photos and videos captured by this potentially bar-raising handset, so obviously we'll try to snag one of our own for a review.
