"Nude on Black" by Loui Jover
For those who don’t know Loui Jover is one of Australia’s most talented artists. I love her use of color and the overall depiction of themes and emotions in her artwork. “Nude in Black” is superb and a must have for you art collectors. Oh yeah and if you don’t have a lot of knowledge of art let me help you lol… naah art is vital it’s a great way of expression. … I asked Jover what was the inspiration behind this piece. She replied, "Nude on black" is a theme that is a foundation of my art and a segment in the exploration of the human form stripped of gimmick and exploitation, i primarily use the female form for this ongoing series simply because i find it more subtle and natural and more flexible and tactile – i hope to use the male form more in the future but when using ink in the fluid style i prefer the male form tends to have sharp edges that require a different technique to the one i use….i draw upright on an easel so that the ink can do as it pleases, i like happy accidents…this particular work has a minimal amount of this for it is on a more absorbent paper which drank the ink as it landed, i work from live models, sourced material, my own photos and imagination. most of this series is a morphing of all these …i omit facial details and a lot of other un-necessary data so as the purity of line and shape make its impact in the purest sense..(a little like Matisse wanted but without all that colour) i don’t use much colour myself for in the modern world colour has become confusing and busy (my opinion) so i create these works as an aesthetic refuge from that…...after i had successfully drawn the figure she herself asked to be on black, to balance the composition"… Click to go to website.
