ATLANTA -- Atlanta police say they are conducting an internal investigation into complaints that officers acted inappropriately when searching suspects.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos told WSB-TV there is evidence to suggest that some of the officers' actions during a traffic stop were inappropriate. Campos said that Atlanta Police Chief George Turner intends to move swiftly to discipline some officers.
A motorist told the television station that some members of the police department's Red Dog Unit pulled over his vehicle and forced him to pull down his pants on the side of an Atlanta street in broad daylight.
The Red Dog unit operates in areas where drug sales and drug-related activities are prevalent, according to a description from the police department.
